The world famous wood processing and wood-based panel experts, the pioneers of China and the world in the field of bamboo processing and utilization, academician of Chinese Academy of engineering and Professor Zhang Qisheng of Nanjing Forestry University were held in Nanjing funeral home. Academician Zhang Qisheng died in Nanjing at 9:43 a.m. on September 25, 2017, at the age of 78.

    Zhang Qisheng 1961 graduated from Nanjing College of forestry industry and Forest Department of academy. He served as the deputy director and director of the scientific research department of Nanjing Forestry College, and director of the bamboo engineering research and development center of Nanjing Forestry University. He was elected academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering in 1997. He was appointed president of Zhejiang Forestry University, vice president of China Bamboo Industry Association, deputy director of agricultural division of Chinese Academy of engineering and member of the scientific ethics committee of Chinese Academy of engineering.

    Academician Zhang Qisheng has been engaged in wood processing and wood-based panel technology and biomass energy polygeneration technology for a long time, and enjoys a high reputation in the academic circles at home and abroad. His rigorous scholarship, thinking, diligent practice, good at innovation, has published more than 300 papers and 9 monographs, translations of the research results, won the national science and technology progress award 1, two prize 4, two state technological invention award 1, national invention third-prize 1, China invention patent creation gold 1, Chinese outstanding patent award 3, HLHL foundation for scientific and technological progress award 1, first prize of Ministry of forestry science and technology progress 1, first prize for outstanding achievements in Tianjin City, 1.
